CALL FOR APPLICATIONS TO THE EXCHANGE RESIDENCY PROGRAMME WITH THE BARCELONA CITY OF LITERATURE
The Residency Programme, organised by the Gdańsk House of Literature in collaboration with the Barcelona City of Literature, is dedicated to Gdańsk residents engaged in literary or interdisciplinary work on the cross-section of literature and visual arts (comics, artists' books, book illustration).
The Programme’s objective is to offer a comfortable working environment as well as to promote and popularise the work oflocal authors in the international context by encouraging networking with foreign publishers, translators, graphic designers, and academic and cultural institutions. Simultaneously, due to the exchange character, it enhances the cooperation between Gdańsk and Barcelona as UNESCO Cities of Literature.
As a result of the call, one author will have an opportunity to partake in the residency at the Culture Institute of Barcelona between 14.04.2026 and 04.05.2026. The applications will be evaluated by a commission comprised of three representatives of the Gdańsk House of Literature. The detailed description of the criteria can be found in the Residency’s Terms and Conditions and Evaluation Forms enclosed to this call.
The Resident is entitled to free accommodation in Barcelona, an honorarium of 3,300 PLN gross and the coverage of travel expenses. Moreover, the partnering institutions offer the necessary substantive and promotional support.
Duration of the Residency Programme:
The Residency lasts 3 weeks, from 14.04.2026 to 04.05.2026.
How to apply:
The application, in Polish or English, should be sent to: rezydencje@miastoliteratury.com until 10th of March 2026, 23:59 Polish time.
The application should include:
- a filled application form;
- CV documenting the artistic or scientific achievements as well as the professional experience related to the character of the Residency Programme;
- a list of published literary works and completed individual and group exhibitions;
- an excerpt of a text (no longer than 5,000 signs with spaces, in Polish or English) or an artistic portfolio (up to 10 slides in .pdf format or a link to a professional website);
- a list of residencies realised to date;
- a detailed description and plan for the Residency, along with its expected results (no longer than 5,000 signs with spaces);
- covering letter (up to 2,000 signs with spaces, in .pdf format);
