Thoor Ballylee is a historic riverside tower in County Galway, closely connected to W.B. Yeats, who spent summers there and wrote some of his most celebrated works.
The Yeats Thoor Ballylee Society invites applications for a two-week literary residency running from 31 July to 14 August 2026.
Who can apply?
Writers working in poetry, literature, or drama.
What’s included?
– accommodation in Gort (approx. 7 km from Thoor Ballylee)
– €80 daily stipend
– access to a studio space (10am–5pm daily)
Travel to Ireland and local transport must be arranged and covered by the participant.
Expectations:
– engage with local literary community
– offer a workshop and/or reading/performance
