Residency Program for Translators of Kraków UNESCO City of Literature opens call for the second edition of the project. This time, we invite translators who translate from Polish into other languages to Kraków for a month-long stay. The residency will take place in September. The deadline for submitting applications is 25th July 2021.

 

The call is addressed to translators of Polish literature into other languages who have at least one published translation and are currently working on a translation project. In addition to accommodation and reimbursement of travel costs, participants will also receive a gross remuneration of PLN 2,000.

 

The residency aims to support translators by providing them with convenient conditions for creative work for 30 days. In addition, during the residency, the Kraków UNESCO City of Literature team will be ready to help to establish new environmental and industry contacts and network the resident with the local literary sector.

 

Criteria:
– at least one published translation,
– work on your own literary project during the residency,
– readiness to participate in the literary life of Krakow, i.e. events, promotional meetings, and interviews,
– during their stay, residents will be asked to present a short text showing Krakow from their perspective; the text will be used in the future for promotional purposes or will be published in a larger collection.

Date of stay: September 1-30, 2021
