LITERARY RESIDENCIES IN WARSAW FOR WRITERS, PLAYWRITERS AND TRANSLATORS FROM BELARUS AND UKRAINE | 2025

Ukrainian playwright, director, and one of the co-founders of the Theater of Playwrights (Kyiv). Before the full-scale Russian invasion, Anastasiia often worked with NGOs in Eastern Ukraine in towns on the frontline. Her international work is connected with Maxim Gorki Theater (Berlin), Münchner Kammerspiele Theater and National Theater Mannheim. 

 

In 2019 Anastasiia became a chief playwright in PostPlay theatre in Kyiv. Next in 2020 Anastasiia became a playwright and director of the play “What is Jewish Music”. In 2021, together with Natalka Vorozhbyt, Anastasiia worked as playwright on the project “Crimea 5am”, an international project dedicated to political prisoners. 

 

After the start of the full-forced Russian invasion Anastasiia temporarily moved to Germany. She orginised series of Ukrainian Readings called Vom Krieg – Ukrainische Dramatiker*innen erzählen vom Leben während der Invasion durch Russland in number of theatres around the world Royal Court Theatre (London), Münchner Kammerspiele, Gorki Theater (Berlin), NTM Nationaltheater Mannheim, Schauspielhaus Wien, Staatstheater Hannover, ETA Hoffmann Theater (Bamberg). 

 

In the fall of 2022, Anastasiia started her work as a Hausautorin at National Theater Mannheim. The premiere of her play “How to talk to the dead” (Wie man mit Toten spricht) happened on the 22nd of April, 2023. 

 

In 2022-2023 together with Sasha Marianna Salzmann, Anastasiia curated a playwrighting laboratory in Gorki Theater (Berlin) with the title “While History Writes Itself”. During this lab, Anastasiia also wrote a play called “RIFFENSTAHL.UA”, which was dedicated to the experience of Ukrainian refugees in Berlin. 

 

2024 – Anastasiia became a playwright and director of the documentary play “Traveller’s Playlist”, based on the experience of a Ukrainian soldier with the call sign Adler who survived Russian captivity. The premiere of the play was in October 2024 at the Lesya Ukrainka Theatre (Lviv).
