Granada City of Literature Unesco, under the Department of Culture of the City of Granada, in collaboration with the University of Granada, through the Vice-Rectorate for University Extension, the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalization and the Vice-Rectorate for Social Responsibility, Equality and Inclusion, present a new edition of its International Writers’ Residency Program in Granada, created with the ultimate aim of strengthening international cooperation in the cultural sector in general and literary creation in particular, one of the objectives set by the city of Granada as a member of the Unesco Creative Cities Network (UCCN).

Objectives
Granada City of Literature Unesco and the University of Granada created the program with the following objectives: to foster contacts and connections between literary authors from Granada and those from different cities and countries of the world; to promote the internationalization of literary authors linked to Granada; to foster the internationalization of the cultural fabric of the city of Granada; and to promote Granada as a cultural city and a city that welcomes international creative talent.

Target
The Granada International Writers-in-Residence Program is dedicated to writers living in any country and writing in any language.

What is offered (2024 edition)
A stay of 30 overnight stays in Granada for two writers between November 4 and December 3, both inclusive, at the Corrala de Santiago of the University of Granada. Granada City of Literature Unesco will cover the travel expenses of each of the selected writers. The University of Granada will cover the accommodation expenses of the two selected writers in single rooms and full board at its guest residence Corrala de Santiago. Granada City of Literature Unesco and the University of Granada will provide the writers-in-residence with opportunities to participate in the literary life of the city of Granada and contacts with local writers, as well as the possibility of participating in workshops and pedagogical activities.

La Corrala de Santiago
La Corrala de Santiago is a unique example of 16th century popular architecture in Granada. Located in the historic district of Realejo, the structure of the corrala consists of a rectangular courtyard with high galleries where private dwellings were located. Owned by the University of Granada since 1991, the building was restored to convert it into a temporary residence for professors and students. In recent years, it has also been used for cultural activities (exhibitions, theater, music, cinema, conferences).

What is requested
Writers-in-residence must commit themselves to participate in activities related to the local literary system proposed by the Program.

Writers-in-residence will commit themselves to use the time of the residency to carry out their literary project, and may not carry out other public activities with other institutions, nor in other cities, without prior communication to those responsible for the Programme. Likewise, they will undertake to publicly disseminate (on social networks, etc.) their stay as international writers-in-residence in Granada.
