The mission of KHN Center for the Arts is to encourage and support established and emerging visual artists, composers and writers by providing working and living environments that allow for uninterrupted time for work, reflection and creative growth and development. The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City, NE offers 2- to 8-week residencies year-round for writers, visual artists, and music composers. Approximately 65-70 residencies are awarded per year.

 

Residencies are available for 2 to 8 weeks stays. Each resident receives a $175 stipend per week, free housing, and a private studio. 

Resident artists periodically volunteer to offer public talks, performances, presentations etc. KHN hosts a monthly artist talk/open studio event (optional).

Visual artists work in one of three studios, writers have private studios within the apartments. There is a separate composer studio with an upright piano.

Next application deadline is September 1, 2024. The application portal will open May 1, 2024

 

Applications for KHN residencies must be submitted through an online application process. A nonrefundable $35 application fee applies to online submissions and is collected through the application portal. Applications received via USPS mail or email will not be considered and exceptions will not be made.

Nebraska City a quiet river community, nestled along the Missouri River. With its 7.300 residents, tree-shaded, cobbled streets, and elegant Victorian homes, Nebraska City has much to offer the creative spirit.
