LITERARY RESIDENCIES IN WARSAW FOR WRITERS, PLAYWRITERS AND TRANSLATORS FROM BELARUS AND UKRAINE

She is a Belarusian translator and author, formerly a linguist (she defended her doctorate in 2014).

She translates books in various genres, primarily from English and Polish: fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books. Her work includes translations of works by Jan Brzechwa, Ryszard Kapuściński, Małgorzata Szejnert, and Dominika Słowik. Her total output includes over 15 books translated into Belarusian.

In 2021, as part of a Gaude Polonia scholarship, she translatedStanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz’s novel “Insatiability” intoBelarusian. She is a translator of the Harry Potter books intoBelarusian. She is a two-time winner of the “Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz” Award. Carlos Sherman Award for Best Translation of the Year: in 2020—for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; and in 2023—for S. I. Witkiewicz’sInsatiability.

She was born in Vitebsk in 1985. Since 2021, she has lived in Poland, traveling between Warsaw and Krakow
