LITERARY RESIDENCIES IN WARSAW FOR WRITERS, PLAYWRITERS AND TRANSLATORS FROM BELARUS AND UKRAINE

Playwright, Poet, Political activist. She graduated from the Belarusian State University (Minsk) and the Literary Institute. M. Gorky (Moscow). She lived in Minsk, New York, Moscow, Riga, again in Minsk. In 2021, she was forced to flee from Belarus to Kyiv, due to the repressions of the Lukashenka regime in a totalitarian country. In 2022, she was forced to flee the war from Ukraine. From March 10, 2022 to April 7, 2023 she lived with her family in Prague, since April 8, 2023 she lives in Warsaw. 

 

Diana Balyko is a writer with the heart of a psychologist, winner of international drama awards, author of five collections of poems, twenty plays, two dozen books on practical psychology and NLP. Member of the International Association of Writers and Publicists, the Union of Musical Figures of Belarus, the Belarusian Association of Journalists, a resident of the international organization Artist at Risk. Performances based on plays by Diana Balyko are successfully staged in the repertoire of more than three dozen theaters in different countries. The playwright’s calling card has long been the melodrama “White Angel with Black Wings”. Performances based on this play were staged in four countries – in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Poland.
