Mikita Ilyinchik

LITERARY RESIDENCIES IN WARSAW FOR WRITERS, PLAYWRITERS AND TRANSLATORS FROM BELARUS AND UKRAINE

Born in Belarus. After graduation, he joined the GITIS department of theater studies (course manager Natallia Pivavarava, who was dismissed by the university administration due to apathy). In the years 2015-2020 he studied at GITIS at the directing department (course director Dzmitry Krymau, currently blocked in the territory of the Russian Federation). 

He worked at the OK-16 Theater in Minsk, where in 2018 he made his debut as a director and author of the play M (a play based on the texts of the Belarusian poet Valżyna Mort). In 2019, he made his debut in OK-16 as a playwright with the play Pakoj Dies, dir. Palina Dabravolskaya. In 2020, the Belarusian authorities registered the Belarusian Theater OK-16, and its director Marya Kalesnikava was suspended in a summons for 12 years. 

In 2021, Ilyinchik  became a finalist of the international drama competition Aurora (Polish Theater in Bydgoszcz) with the play Dark Room. He was awarded by the senior juror of the competition, Sviatlana Alexievich. In 2022, he was hired by the Polish Theater in Bydgoszcz to play Fucking in Brussels. As a rez and playwright In 2023, Mikita worked as a playwright on the libretto for the play Maria de Buenos Aires directed by Wojtek Faruga at the Grand National Opera Warsaw. Also in 2023, he worked as a director and playwright on the play Emma at the Komuna Warszawa theater.
